We spent the Fourth of July weekend in Houston...and had a blast! We went to Aunt Marsha and Uncle Alan's house twice to go swimming, went to the new Bass Pro Shop near Nana and Doodah's house to look around at the cool animals, went to Doodah's boss's ranch in Bedias (between Huntsville and College Station) and went to the Armand Bayou Nature Center. We had a very busy weekend, but it was a lot of fun.
Taylor liked Bass Pro Shop....she really liked pointing out all of the animals. She's to the point where she doesn't like to ride in her stroller or a shopping cart anymore, so all she wants to do is walk/run everywhere. Needless to say, we spent the entire time at Bass Pro chasing her around and keeping her from touching stuff she wasn't supposed to! In fact, she threw a fit in the middle of the store b/c I wouldn't let her pet one of the animal mounts. Oh brother.
We went out to Bedias on Saturday and had a wonderful time. Taylor just doesn't know what to do with so much wide open space. She kept trying to run out to a field full of cows and horses. Aunt Kelley, Uncle Doug and Jack went as well, so we got to see them, too! Poor little Jack wasn't feeling good, so they didn't get to stay as long as they wanted.....but long enough for Taylor and Jackson to have their first cousin fight!! Of course, Taylor initiated the whole thing. Due to her lack of exposure to other kids, Taylor simply doesn't know how to play with other kids. She would just walk up to Jack and take away whatever he had in his hands. After a couple times of that, Jack decided that he had had enough and grabbed the toy back from Taylor....and then it was on!! They were both tugging on the same toy. Jack finally pulled it away from her and then Taylor pouted. It was so funny!
Speaking of pouting, Taylor pretty much pouted the entire time we were at Nana's house b/c their new puppy, Cody, was driving Taylor crazy!! Taylor could barely walk anywhere without Cody getting in her face. Of course, all Cody wanted was to play, but Taylor just didn't understand. She's used to her Belle who just lays around the house all day!!
Another first for Taylor....she skinned both of her knees while in Houston! We even had to put a band aid on one knee!! Taylor just wanted to pull it off. I have a feeling we'll be having lots of skinned knees to deal with!!
All in all, it was a great trip. We just wish it wasn't so far away so that we could make it more often! Now we're just counting down until our next trip out of Lubbock!
